“What is that?” was what I asked when i first came to the summer bridge program here at UCSD. In my own words, gender neutral language means word that do not emphasize one gender to another. For example, a lot of us are used to saying things like ” Hey GUYS lets go to the movies tonight”. We do not realize that saying “guys” might offend someone. I never realized that someone could get angry at those words. Saying those words is part of our culture;the culture we grew up in. Gender neutral language makes a lot of sense so now i am starting to catch myself correcting my language. Instead of using “guys”, we are encouraged/corrected to use “all”.

Instead of finishing our work, my suite mates and I had a debate about the economics about legalizing weed. We ended up watching a weed documentary called “the union” and we had an interesting conversation/debate. We did not watch the whole documentary because is was too long but im back and i need to finish my work!!!
